Starting out in band life and now twisting knobs, David Anderson Kirk’s transition to German-inspired techno early in his career has come full circle with Luft.
Defined in the German language as air, atmosphere, breeze, or breath, Luft is an invigorating experience designed to elevate a festival or underground night club with acid techno and epic synth-scapes — in other words, a strong push through mundanities and prime enhancement for ecstasy (legal or otherwise).
Poised as a late-night club favorite, Luft has the ability to cure an afternoon lull through diversion and nourishment, breathing life into your workflow and party alike.
In Kirk’s words, “Stalwart techno and obstinate acid bass grooves serve as the underpinning tumult that grounds the music, giving space for the colors we can only hear.”
Kirk adds that the human voice connects us, and like his album’s namesake, it too is made of breath. “The familiar patterns of hesitation speech punctuate the mix to serve in the abstract, while reminding us of the familiar: that we exist in space, amongst the multitudes still breathing,” he shares.
Netflix Originals writer/producer Adam Kaplan calls the album “highly listenable,” which is apt praise for an artist hellbent on playing renegade raves for the beleaguered masses. Hear how Kirk brought his latest work to the light of day after surreptitiously producing music in the dark.
